No logon screen
However,
this happens EVERY time without fail...and no one is near the mouse or computer. The screen saver does not come back on at all, so when I come in to use it in the mornings, it is sitting at the logon screen waiting for a user to be selected. This is on Windows XP Professional.

Good day to all, I have a WINNT4 SP6a PC that is missing the logon screen. Boots normally but stops before the logon screen appears (Ctrl-Alt-Del screen). All HDD activities stops at that point but Mouse and keyboard are ok and not locked up. I have no ERD and want to avoid reloading the OS.

In my Screen Saver options the tick box is "On resume, password protect". I want "On resume, display welcome screen" But unlike the standed XP newbie I've got "Use the Welcome Screen" and "Use Fast User Switching" enabled. What's with that? Interesting to note that it's only a problem with my "Kimone" user.

The problem can occur even when you've done everything right. I had the zone working and have not plated in about 3 months and when i tried to play I found I needed to get a new logon name and pass word and zone friends comes up but no" log on" screen and it soon says bad login and pass word but the logon screen never came up.

Locked computer/no welcome screen
When I start my computer I do not get a network logon screen. I only get the logon screen when I log off without restarting. My primary network logon is Client for Microsoft Networks. I have removed all my network components and installed them again. But nothing seems to work. Does somebody has a solution ?

The first time I booted into Windows 98 and was brought to the logon screen, I hit Cancel instead of typing in a user name. Now, neither of the two machines log on when they first boot. I remembered that when windows automatically logs a user on (ie a username but no password) there is a key that gets created in the registry, (can't remember the exact branch offhand) but it's the only one with "autologon" in it. Deleting it will force windows to bring back the logon screen.
